DSCC’s Money Management Skills Tip Sheet
As you begin to transition to adulthood, you can begin to manage (or co-manage) your money. The Division of Specialized Care for Children (DSCC) created this Money Management Skills Tip Sheet to help youth with special healthcare needs learn about managing money, budgeting and setting up credit as they transition to adulthood.
DuPage County Health Dental Clinic
The Dental Health Program at the DuPage County Health Department provides access to dental services and oral health education for low-income residents of DuPage County. Dental treatment is not free. Patients must meet income guidelines and/or have active Medicaid. The clinic charges low-cost fees.

DuPage County Health Department
The DuPage County Health Department provides health services, resources, and information to residents of DuPage County. Programs include immunizations, vision and hearing screening, teen health programs, behavioral health services for children and adults, dental services and more. Easterseals Central Illinois offers programs and support for individuals with developmental delays, disabilities and autism from birth through age 21. Resources include physical and occupational therapy, speech services, feeding therapy, autism evaluations and supports, education services, camp and recreation programs, and more.
Easterseals Central Illinois provides services in McLean, Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford counties. It also manages Child and Family Connections for Peoria and Champaign counties. For more information and help navigating their services, see the Parent Handbook.

Easterseals DuPage & Fox Valley offers outpatient rehabilitation services for individuals with developmental delays, disabilities and autism from birth through age 21. Resources include physical and occupational therapy, speech-language services, mental health services, feeding therapy, nutrition services, audiology, autism evaluations, medical diagnostics, intensive therapy, specialty clinics, inclusive child care and more.

Easterseals Serving Chicagoland and Greater Rockford
Easterseals Serving Chicagoland and Greater Rockford offers community-based, comprehensive services and supports to individuals in the city of Chicago, surrounding suburban Cook County, and the Rockford area. Programs focusing on early learning and disability services include autism services and supports, diagnostic services, early intervention and education programs, teen and young parent services, respite care, employment opportunities, and additional support services.
Easterseals Serving Chicagoland and Greater Rockford services and programs include:
- Family support and respite services
- Harry’s Buttons and Threads (HB Threads) offering employment opportunities, job training, and life skills development for individuals with disabilities
- Teen and young parent family support, resources and doula services

The Egyptian Public & Mental Health Department provides resources and support to Southern Illinois residents in Saline, Gallatin, White, and Wayne counties. The department provides public health and mental health services, prevention and recovery programs, education workshops, family case management services, food and water safety, and more.
The Egyptian Public & Mental Health Department has offices in Eldorado, Harrisburg (Saline County), Carmi (White County), and Shawneetown (Gallatin County).
eHomeCare Virtual Training Program for Caring for Children With Complex Medical Needs
The eHomeCare program is a free online training program that aims to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based information on the care of children requiring complex medical care at home. The program consists of eight distinct courses aimed at enhancing the knowledge, skills, and confidence of home care providers, including:
- Caring for children with a tracheostomy with or without a ventilator
- Central line care
- Dialysis in home
- Infection control
- Setting boundaries in the home
- Skin care
- Range of motion
- Daily care activities for children
The courses aim to bridge knowledge gaps and enhance caregivers’ confidence and competence in managing both routine and emergency situations. The training is for family members, caregivers, professionals and anyone interested in learning more.

El Mercadito (Nourishing Hope)
El Mercadito is a partnership between La Casa Norte and Nourishing Hope. This partnership provides Chicago residents with fresh food, benefits assistance, job search training, mental health counseling, and access to housing information and referral services. Assistance is available in multiple languages.
Nourishing Hope also offers a free, monthly Online Market service where individuals can:
- Place a grocery order using any computer or smartphone
- Order frozen meats, canned goods, cereal, milk, eggs, and fresh produce each month
- Pick up from the warehouse, The Hub, or Sheridan Market
- Skip waiting in line
- Continue access to the physical pantry/market

El Valor is a non-profit, community-based organization serving children, people with disabilities and their families in the Chicagoland area. El Valor offers education programs focusing on early education, inclusion, employment and self-sufficiency for individuals of all ages with different abilities.
It also provides families a variety of enrichment opportunities including certification classes, first aid, parenting seminars and family support groups. Services are available in English and Spanish.
