Wheelchair Basketball Disability Awareness Event and Exhibition Game in Normal
Support inclusion and cheer on your favorite team at this family-friendly wheelchair basketball event in Normal
Living Independence For Everyone Center for Independent Living (LIFE CIL) will host its “Wheelchair Basketball Disability Awareness Event” on May 2 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Eastview Christian Church in Normal.
Members of the University of Illinois men’s and women’s wheelchair basketball teams will participate in an exhibition game against LIFE CIL’s United States Veterans team.
This exciting, family-friendly event will include:
- Watching highly skilled wheelchair athletes, including Paralympic participants
- Seeing wheelchair athletes compete with individuals who do not typically use wheelchairs
- Activities promoting disability awareness
- Supporting LIFE CIL and two scholarships to the University of Illinois Youth Wheelchair Sports Camps
The event will also include raffles and a silent auction. Organizers will announce the winners before the event ends.
Tickets are $5 per person. You can buy tickets in advance at LIFE CIL or at the door on the day of the event. Admission is free for children ages 5 and under.
All proceeds from this event benefit LIFE Center for Independent Living (LIFE CIL) and two scholarships to the University of Illinois Youth Wheelchair Sports Camps.
