A free two-part webinar series to help families, caregivers and youth navigate the transition to adulthood

Join the Division of Specialized Care for Children (DSCC) for our “Preparing for Adulthood: A Roadmap for the Future” webinar series.

This free, two-part series aims to help families and youth navigate the journey to adulthood.

DSCC Title V Transition Specialist Claire Cook and Northern Illinois Outreach Specialist for Illinois Life Span Suzanne Aaron will lead these presentations.

“Session One: Navigating Adult Systems” is on June 26 from 6 to 7 p.m.

Families face new challenges and shifting roles as young people move toward adulthood. This session will help participants explore:

  • Understanding adult systems: healthcare, education, employment, housing and community resources.
  • Strategies for balancing independence and guidance as family roles evolve.

The presentation will provide practical tools to prepare for the future.

Session One is for youth ages 12 to 15 and their families. Families with children at other developmental stages are also welcome to attend.

Sign up on Zoom for “Session One: Navigating Adult Systems.”

“Session Two: Empowering Parents and Caregivers” is on July 31 at 6 p.m.

The second session is for parents, caregivers and families of youth ages 16 and older with complex needs and/or disabilities. See the “Session Two: Empowering Parents and Caregivers” flyer for more details.

Each presentation will be in English. Live Spanish interpretation will be available.

If you have questions about the webinar series, please contact Claire Cook at clairer3@uic.edu or (800) 322-3722.
