STAR NET Regions I & III will host a virtual book study webinar series, “Organized and Engaged: Simple and Effective Strategies to Support Executive Function.” The three-part series will be from 4 to 5 p.m. on:

“Organized and Engaged: Simple and Effective Strategies to Support Executive Function” is a teacher-friendly, easy-to-read book that offers practical ideas and strategies for supporting executive function in early childhood classrooms and beyond.
Join STAR NET Regions I and III early childhood resource specialist, Sherial McKinney, M.S. Ed., and STAR NET family resource specialist, Roseann Slaght, for an in-depth look at children’s executive function skills.
Participants will complete reading assignments and meet with Sherial and Roseann to take a deeper dive into:
- Executive function and how it is defined
- Self-regulation
- Specific sensory play
- Cognitive strategies to teach and support students’ executive function
Sherial has provided staff development and training opportunities for teachers, support staff, administrators and family members at a variety of local, state, regional and national conferences.
Roseann Slaght has worked at STAR NET for 23 years and is the mother of two adult sons with disabilities. She embraces inclusive practices and finding ways to support each child to develop their full potential and include parents as partners in the learning process.
The webinar series is free and open to family members and educators.
Individuals seeking professional development credit must attend all three webinars and complete the reading assignments.
