“Storybook Adventure” at the Sensory Garden Playground in Lisle
Free Summer Saturdays at Sensory Garden Playground feature fun, exploration and all-inclusive play!
The Wheaton Park District will host the final Summer Saturday of 2026 with a “Storybook Adventure” on Aug. 15.
Once upon a time at a playground in Lisle, Ill., there was a grand festival to tell the stories of the land!
Join with local libraries for fantastic storytelling fun at the playground. Activities will include:
- Storytelling opportunities in different parts of the playground every 30 minutes
- Searching for hidden stickers of famous storybook characters throughout the playground
- Creating a bookmark and more!
The event is free. A $5 donation per family is suggested.

The Summer Saturday event is dependent on the weather.
The Sensory Garden Playground combines sensory-integrated playground equipment with areas for gardening and exploration. The Sensory Garden Playground is autism-friendly certified. The 37-acre facility is being developed in phases as funding becomes available.
