Safety City Interactive Summer Program for Young Children in Springfield
A free interactive safety program providing children in first through third grades the confidence and skills to stay safe at home, school and the community
Springfield Safety City will run from July 20 – 24, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., each day. Drop off is at 7:45 a.m. at Children’s Safety Village at the northwest corner of 11th Street and Ernest Hemingway Drive near the University of Illinois Springfield softball complex.
Give your child the confidence and skills to stay safe at home, school and throughout the community.
This interactive, hands-on summer program will teach children important lessons on:
- Fire safety and emergencies
- Bike and pedestrian safety
- Traffic and street awareness
- Utility and electrical safety
- Outdoor and environmental safety
- How and when to call 911
Participants must wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate clothing (activities may be outdoors). Please also apply sunscreen before arriving each day.
A water bottle is recommended. Snacks will be provided each day.
The program is free and open to Springfield-area families with children in first through third grades. Spots are limited, and you must register to attend.
