SUMMARY:Safety City Interactive Summer Program for Young Children in Spring

DESCRIPTION:A free interactive safety program providing children in first t
 hrough third grades the confidence and skills to stay safe at home\, schoo
 l and the community\n\nSpringfield Safety City will run from July 20 - 24\
 , 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.\, each day. Drop off is at 7:45 a.m. at Children’s S
 afety Village at the northwest corner of 11th Street and Ernest Hemingway 
 Drive near the University of Illinois Springfield softball complex.\n\nGiv
 e your child the confidence and skills to stay safe at home\, school and t
 hroughout the community.\n\nThis interactive\, hands-on summer program wil
 l teach children important lessons on:\n\n 	Fire safety and emergencies\n 
 	Bike and pedestrian safety\n 	Traffic and street awareness\n 	Utility and
  electrical safety\n 	Outdoor and environmental safety\n 	How and when to 
 call 911\n\nParticipants must wear comfortable\, closed-toe shoes and weat
 her-appropriate clothing (activities may be outdoors). Please also apply s
 unscreen before arriving each day.\n\nA water bottle is recommended. Snac
 ks will be provided each day.\n\nThe program is free and open to Springfie
 ld-area families with children in first through third grades. Spots are li
 mited\, and you must register to attend.\n\nSave your child's spot for Saf
