North Star Reach is a fully accessible medical camp that serves children with significant health challenges and their families at no cost. It is located in Pinckney, Mich.

North Star Reach will host “Summer Resident Camp Session 1” from June 14 -19. This “blended diagnosis” session is for campers with various diagnoses and their siblings.

Kids will experience the full magic of camp in a setting designed just for them! Experienced staff and licensed medical professionals work together to ensure every camper’s medical, emotional and social needs are met safely and thoughtfully.

The camp welcomes children with:

  • Solid organ transplants
  • Heart disease
  • Epilepsy
  • Sickle cell disease

Children ages 7 to15 (by the first day of the session) who have a qualifying medical diagnosis and their siblings are welcome.

With on-site medical support, accessible facilities and individualized care, campers can focus on what matters most—being kids and having fun!

Campers will experience:

  • Arts and crafts
  • Boating and waterfront fun
  • Archery
  • Campfires and s’mores
  • Games
  • Building independence, friendships and more!

North Star Reach summer camp is entirely free of charge. Applications are reviewed based on medical needs, space and staffing ratios.

Please note that the Sickle Cell Disease Association of Illinois (SCDAI) will provide sickle cell warriors in the Chicago area help with camp transportation. This transportation assistance is only available for Session 1.
