Grow your augmentative and alternative communication skills at this free two-day, hybrid workshop for caregivers and professionals

Join the Illinois Assistive Technology Program (IATP) for its “Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Summer Workshop” on Aug. 4 – 5. The hybrid event will include:

  • In-person and virtual sessions on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Virtual-only sessions on Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 8:45 a.m. to  3:45 p.m.

The in-person sessions will take place at IATP, 701 N. Walnut St.

Enhance and grow your AAC skills at this hybrid event, featuring workshops for beginners to advanced AAC professionals.

In-person and virtual speakers will provide insight and information on a wide variety of topics, including:

  • AAC Intervention with Teens and Young Adults
  • Evidence-Based AAC Interventions for Early Communicators
  • Making Language AACessible: Alternate AAC Access Considerations and Accessible Low Tech AAC Tools
  • AAC and the Transition Age: A Look into Social Peer Groups
  • Why AAC Isn’t Working and What to Do Instead: Moving from Device to Communication

The two-day workshop is for anyone wanting to learn more about AAC – families, self-advocates, teachers, speech-language pathologists, professionals, and more.

All sessions are free. Individuals can sign up for one or all of the workshops.
