Hearts and Hooves Children’s Grief Support Day Camp in Rockford
A two-day grief support day camp offering a blend of age-appropriate, equine and therapeutic interventions to help children navigate the loss of a loved one.
Join the Rockford Park District, Perks Family Equine Center and Northern Illinois Hospice for Hearts and Hooves Children’s Grief Support Day Camp on Aug. 7 and 8 in Rockford.
The loss of a loved one can trigger many challenging emotions. This two-day grief support camp will combine a unique blend of age-appropriate, therapeutic interventions to help children navigate these challenges.
Camp will include:
- A safe, supportive and engaging environment for children experiencing grief
- Experiencing Equine Assisted Services in a non-judgmental space for emotional expression and connection with horses, known for their sensitivity to human emotions
- Age-appropriate, structured grief support activities to help children understand their emotions, share their experiences and develop coping skills
All campers will need to bring a water bottle, sunscreen and bug spray.
Participants must also wear close-toed and close-heeled shoes. No sandals or Crocs will be allowed.
The cost is $10 per child. Spots are limited. A wait list will be available once all slots are filled.
