“So EXTRA – Celebrating our Down Syndrome Neighbors” Event in St. Charles
A free event celebrating Down Syndrome Awareness Month and sharing information about the Rising Lights Project
The Rising Lights Project and Lumunos will host the Becoming Neighbors “So EXTRA – Celebrating our Down Syndrome Neighbors” event on Oct. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. in St. Charles.
Lumunos hosts monthly Becoming Neighbors community conversations across the nation. These meaningful, facilitated conversations help people of all ages and backgrounds discover shared values and put them into action to improve the local community.
Lumunos Fellow Hannah Dupre will lead this conversation to celebrate, learn from, and connect with neighbors with Down syndrome.
Guests will enjoy:
- A welcoming space
- A diverse panel of speakers
- Small group conversation
- Food and music
Hannah joined the Rising Lights Project in 2022. Her years of American Sign Language (ASL) training have helped her connect to many new participants and build new friendships. Hannah’s Lumunos fellowship is focusing on helping people overcome the fear of getting to know their neighbors with Down syndrome and other unique abilities.
Learn more about Hannah on Lumunos’ website staff page.
The event is free and open to the community.
