“Ready to Fly” Flight Simulation Event in Romeoville
A free flight simulation event for children and youth with disabilities
Do you have a child or adolescent with a disability who has never been on an airplane?
Join Lewis University’s Occupational Therapy Program for “Ready to Fly” on April 18 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Harold E. White Aviation Center in Romeoville.
The program supports individuals ages 3 to 21 with a variety of diagnosed disabilities affecting communication, sensory processing, mobility, cognition and associated performance skills.
If you’re avoiding travel or worried about flying as a family, this event may help. The event is self-paced, with guided instruction and support from students and faculty.
Ready to Fly participants will practice:
- Packing a suitcase
- Interacting with ticketing
- Going through security
- Boarding/exiting an airplane
- Picking up their luggage
Participants will explore every portion of the event, which takes about an hour.
The event is free. Seating is limited.
Reserve your boarding pass as soon as possible! Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis and will fill up fast.
