“There’s No Place Like ISVI” Summer Camps in Jacksonville for Students Who Are Visually Impaired
Summer camps to build S.T.E.A.M. concepts and transition skills for Illinois students ages 9 to 19 who are blind and visually impaired
Join the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI) for “There’s No Place Like ISVI” summer camp from June 16-20.
Students will make friends, explore exciting learning opportunities, and have fun at these exciting camps designed for different age groups:
- Junior STEAM Camp, for ages 9 to 12 – Enjoy team-building activities using science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) skills! Campers will discover and experience STEAM concepts through games, fun activities, music, art and sports.
- STEAM Camp, for ages 12 to 16 – Explore problem-solving strategies using STEAM skills, integrating technology, engineering and team-building through sports and games.
- Transition to Independence, for ages 16 to 19 – Plan your future and build independent living skills for a successful transition to adulthood. Enjoy activities focusing on nutrition, fitness, technology, employment skills, recreation and sports.
Campers will enjoy a wide range of learning opportunities and recreational activities, including “goalball.” Students can:
- Learn how to play and improve their goalball skills with help from ISVI coaches
- Face off against one another
- Play full games using the official rules
Students who are visually impaired and ages 9 to 19 are eligible to attend the camp if they:
- Reside in Illinois
- Do not currently attend ISVI
- Are not high school graduates
- Have appropriate independent living skills
