“College Information Night” for Students With Disabilities in Oswego
Free event for junior high and high school students with disabilities to learn about transition to adulthood and college options, financial aid and community resources
Join Oswego Community Unit School District 308 for “College Information Night” on Feb. 5 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Students with Individual Education Programs (IEPs), 504 Plans, and learning and intellectual disabilities and their families can:
- Ask questions
- Learn about supports
- Explore options for life after high school together
Enjoy a group presentation on:
- The college admissions process
- How to access disability supports and accommodations in college
- Financial aid options, including FAFSA, grants, loans and scholarships
Activities will also include:
- Meeting with representatives from colleges and universities and learning about available supports
- Meeting with representatives from college experience programs for young adults with intellectual disabilities
- Hands-on help completing the Free Application of Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with guidance from college financial aid representatives
- Learning about community resources and programs focusing on independence, job skills and community involvement
This event is open to junior high and high school students with disabilities and their families from Oswego and neighboring communities, including:
- Yorkville
- Aurora
- Naperville
- Plainfield
- North Aurora
- Sugar Grove
- Batavia, Geneva
- Joliet
Spanish and American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters are available on request.
