A free, multi-day conference for parents and caregivers of children ages birth to 6 years old with vision loss

The Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI) is hosting the “Parent Infant Institute/Opening Doors Program” from May 31 through June 3. Family check-in is from 2 to 5 p.m. on May 31.

Opening Doors is a multi-day conference at ISVI for parents and caregivers of children ages 6 and younger with visual impairments and other disabilities.

Families can explore a wide range of educational opportunities, resources and activities, including:

  • Parent networking opportunities
  • Hands-on, interactive activities
  • Sessions on peer relationships, visual impairments, technology, independent living skills, transition and more
  • Functional Vision and Orientation and Mobility consultation for your child
  • Evening workshops and group discussions
  • Evening child care and recreational programs

Housing, food and registration for the event are free.
