Event Type

An opportunity for current and former youth in care, and those who support them, to provide feedback and suggestions regarding Medicaid managed care (currently YouthCare) to help shape future care

Share your feedback with the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) and Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) at virtual and in-person listening sessions to help shape how the state delivers healthcare services to youth in care in the future.

The state will be accepting proposals later this year for a new contract for the DCFS Specialty Managed Care Plan for  Youth in Care and Former Youth in Care (currently called YouthCare).

HFS and DCFS  are hosting a virtual listening session on WebEx on Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to help inform the procurement process.

Each listening session will provide current and former youth in care, and those who support them, an opportunity to share real experiences with Medicaid managed care about what works well and where you see gaps or a need to improve related to:

  • Access to care (including physical health, behavioral health, dental, etc.)
  • Care coordination
  • Transitions
  • Meeting and managing the medical, behavioral health and developmental needs of youth in care

Your lived experiences are critical to understanding how the system works for youth in care and former youth in care. Sharing your experiences can help:

  • Improve access to timely and appropriate care
  • Strengthen care coordination for youth in care
  • Improve the quality and continuity of services, especially during placement change

Due to the procurement process, HFS will be able to listen and register your comments but will not be able to answer questions or respond during these sessions.

Register for the virtual Medicaid managed care listening session for youth in care. Closed captioning will be available.

See the HFS website for a schedule of virtual and in-person listening sessions and more details about the procurement process.
