Free, hands-on computer science and technology workshops and events for youth in eighth through 12th grade who are deaf and hard of hearing

Have fun and gain new skills!

Join the Chicago Park District Deaf and Hard of Hearing Programs’ “Deaf Kids Code” Friday workshops and hackathon events. (The times/locations for the hackathon events will be announced during the workshops).

  • Friday Workshops will be on Jan. 19 and Feb. 2 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
  • The Google Hackathon preparation session will be on Feb. 24.
  • The Google Hackathon will be on March 9.

Teens will learn computer science techniques using a problem-focused approach. Participants can gain coding and other engineering skills learning:

  • Python
  • C++
  • React

The workshops and hackathon events are open to teens ages 13 to 19 years old with all types of hearing loss.
