YMCA Camp Independence for Youth With Spina Bifida in Ingleside
A traditional overnight camp experience for children ages 7 to 13 with spina bifida and other neurological disabilities
Make a lifetime of memories at YMCA Camp Independence! A mini-session and two full sessions for children ages 7 to 13 with spina bifida and other neurological disabilities will take place:
- Session 3 (mini) will run June 28 to July 1
- Session 5 will run July 12 to 17
- Session 7 will run Aug. 2 to 7
Campers will learn alongside others with different abilities:
- Playing sports
- Creating arts and crafts
- Singing around the campfire
- Boating and more
Campers will be active in their own care.
The cost is $900 per camper for the mini session (June 28 to July 1). Full sessions are $1,850 per camper. Financial assistance is available.

Register online using the YMCA Chicago’s website. Registration will open on Jan. 2. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited.
