A free virtual workshop designed specifically for Illinois parents who want to better support their child with behavioral or mental health needs at school

Join Family Matters Parent Training and Information Center (Family Matters PTIC) and Chicago Public Schools Family and Community Engagement (FACE) for this virtual workshop focusing on behavior and mental health on March 27 from 10 to 11 a.m.

Your child’s behavior is communication. If you’re parenting a child with behavioral or mental health needs, this free workshop will help you respond with confidence.

Join Zoubida Pasha from Family Matters PTIC for a powerful session designed specifically for Illinois parents who want to better support their child at school.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Understand your child’s legal rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504
  • Access school-based mental health supports like counseling, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and trauma-informed care
  • Navigate Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs), Behavior Intervention Plan (BIPs) and Manifestation Determinations with confidence
  • Use practical advocacy tools to address discipline, safety and school resistance

Whether you’re new to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or feeling overwhelmed by the process, this workshop will help you gain the clarity, tools, and confidence to advocate effectively.
