Webinar – “Siblings: Sharing Their Journey with Medical Complexity”
Gain insights and learn alongside a panel of siblings about how loving a brother or sister with medical complexity or disability shapes them.
The Courageous Parents Network will host “Siblings: Sharing Their Journey with Medical Complexity” on April 23 from 7 to 8 p.m.
This webinar is open to anyone who wants to learn more about the medical complexity journey. Participants will:
- Gain insights into the fears and worries that siblings carry
- Learn what things siblings find helpful (and not helpful)
- Explore how loving a brother or sister with medical complexity impacts and shapes siblings
The session will feature moderator Dr. Wendy Plante and panelists:
- Aili Zissu is a college freshman balancing life as a student and a cancer sibling. She is the older sister of Lyyli (Wilms tumor), 12, who is a two-time cancer survivor.
- Felix Townsin, 14, is an advocate and changemaker from Victoria, BC. He has inspired people worldwide through his efforts to honor the memory of his sister, Lexi.
- Yasmeen Faruqui, 15, has been a part of Siblings With A Mission since she was 7 and is now on their leadership board. One of her younger sisters has an undiagnosed progressive neuromuscular disease.
Dr. Plante has more than 20 years of experience working with siblings of children with illness and disability and their families. She has also been involved with research and training to address siblings’ needs.
