A free, three-part series of webinars to help Illinois families explore options and plan for the future of children with disabilities transitioning to adulthood

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), the Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission (IGAC), and the Illinois Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program will host the first session in the series, “Understanding Guardianship,” on June 3 from 3 to 4 p.m.

Adult guardianship involves a court appointing a guardian to make decisions for an adult who is unable to make their own decisions due to disability.

Join IGAC managing attorney Sarah Smith for this overview of guardianship.

Sarah will walk participants through the roles, rights, and responsibilities of the:

  • Courts
  • Guardians
  • Adults with disabilities

This free webinar series is open to Illinois residents, families, guardians and the general public.
