A free, three-part series of webinars to help Illinois families explore options and plan for the future of children with disabilities transitioning to adulthood

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), the Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission (IGAC) and the Illinois Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program will wrap up this webinar series with “Understanding Supported Decision-Making” on June 24 from 3 to 4 p.m.

Join Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission Deputy Director Teresa Parks for an overview of Illinois’ Supported Decision-Making Act.

Teresa will cover the act’s application, underlying principles and its use. She will also:

  • Explain how individuals can identify a supporter to assist with identified areas of support to help empower them to reach decisions regarding their lives
  • Cover supporter duties, limitations and safeguards that protect the individual’s decisions
  • Review of the Supported Decision-Making Agreement Form
  • Explain how a Supported Decision-Making Arrangement works

This free webinar series is open to Illinois residents, families, guardians and the general public.
