Webinar Series – “Special Education Rights Overview”
A free four-part webinar series to help parents and caregivers of children with disabilities build confidence in supporting their child’s education
The Family Resource Center on Disabilities’ (FRCD) four-part webinar series will begin with a “Special Education Rights Overview” on Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
This session will focus on understanding your child’s special education rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
IDEA is the law protecting the rights of children receiving special education services. Understanding these rights is key to your child’s educational journey.
Participants will discuss and explore:
- Your child’s right to free and appropriate public education (FAPE)
- How to participate in creating your child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP)
- The importance of inclusion and Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) when appropriate
- Tips for participating in your child’s educational journey
- Procedural safeguards protecting your child’s rights
The webinar series is free. Parents, caregivers and professionals are welcome to attend.
