Join Infinitec (Infinite Potential Through Technology) for “Beyond One-Size-Fits-All: Honoring Identity in AAC Design” on March 21 from 12 to 3 p.m.

Infinitec is the assistive technology program of UCP Seguin of Greater Chicago. The program uses technology to help advance independence and promote inclusive opportunities for children and adults with disabilities.

Presenter Lauren Enders Gonzales, MA, CCC-SLP, will discuss the importance of customizing augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems to honor users’ complete identities. She will provide case studies and collaborative activities to help participants:

• Support autonomy and authentic expression
• Discover and include key personal, linguistic, cultural, spiritual and social aspects of personalization
• Explore practical strategies for identifying changes and personalizing the user’s AAC system

The session will wrap up with an exciting preview of how AI innovations are revolutionizing personalization possibilities for AAC design and implementation.
