Learn about “Adapting Activities for Individuals with Down Syndrome as Alzheimer’s Disease Progresses ” on Oct. 30 from 12 to 1 p.m.

As Alzheimer’s disease develops, individuals with Down syndrome gradually lose the ability to independently do personal care activities as well as hobbies they used to enjoy. The individual may have trouble deciding what to do, how to start the task, or walk away before completing the task.

Katie Frank, PhD, OTR/L, occupational therapist at Advocate Medical Group, will discuss:

  • Strategies for modifying and adapting personal care and leisure activities throughout the stages of Alzheimer’s disease
  • Tips for ensuring the safety of the individual as well as the caregiver
