Virtual Conference – “2025 Symposium: Uniting Healthcare, Advocacy, and Disability”

Join the Family-to-Family Health Information Center at The Arc of Illinois for “2025 Symposium: Uniting Healthcare, Advocacy and Disability” via Zoom on Oct. 7 from 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This one-day conference is for family members, self-advocates and professionals who care for people with any type of disability or chronic medical condition. While some of the presentations focus on children from birth to 22, much of the information is applicable to all ages and stages.
Dive into topics including:
- Person-centered planning through Charting the LifeCourse
- Caregiver advocacy through storytelling and social media
- Medicaid waivers, changes and appealing Medicaid and IDHS decisions
- Supporting caregivers
Our Home Care Family Outreach Associate Erica Stearns is among the presenters. Erica is co-founder of Caffeinated Caregivers . She will share her journey into disability advocacy through social media as a disabled caregiver of children who are medically complex. Caffeinated Caregivers co-founder Alyssa Nutile will also lead the presentation, called “From Hospital Rooms to Hashtags: Reimagining Caregiver Advocacy through Social Media.”
The cost to attend the conference is:
- Members of The Arc – $80 per professional and $10 per self-advocate/family member.
- Non-members – $140 per professional and $40 per self-advocate/family member.
Financial help may be available for families and youth up to age 22 with any disability and/or chronic illness. Apply for the Family-to-Family Health Information Center Stipend online.
