Join the Sickle Cell Warriors and the Sickle Cell Consortium for the “8th Annual Chicago Sickle Cell Summit” on Zoom on Sept. 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The summit’s theme is “Double Whammy: Managing Comorbidities with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD).”
Keynote speaker Kyle Jennette, PhD, MA, will discuss mental health awareness in SCD from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m.
Dr. Jeannette is a clinical neuropsychologist and assistant professor of clinical psychiatry, neurology, and transplant surgery at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Medicine.
Sessions will also cover:
- Session 1: Neurology – 10:45 to 11:15 a.m., stroke and moya moya with Dr. Philipp Aldana
- Session 2: Heart and Lung – 11:20 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.
- Session 3: Kidney, Pancreas and Spleen – 12:55 to 2:25 p.m., three speakers will cover several conditions
- Session 4: Mental Health – 2:25 to 2:55 p.m., will feature a panel discussion on comorbidities
The summit is open to people with SCD, caregivers, advocates, researchers and healthcare providers.
