A free, virtual transition to adulthood training series for Illinois parents/caregivers of youth with autism autism spectrum disorder (ASD) ages 14 to 22

Join The Autism Program of Illinois (TAP) for the next Advocating for Supports to Improve Service Transitions (ASSIST) virtual training program “IDHS-DRS: A Program Overview” on Jan. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. Classes meet via Zoom on Mondays at 6 p.m.

Transitioning from school-based to adult service systems is challenging for many families of youth on the autism spectrum. The TAP ASSIST webinar series aims to give caregivers information, understanding and the tools for navigating their journey.

This session (Session 8) will provide an overview of the programs offered through the Illinois Department of Human Services’ (IDHS) Department of Rehabilitation Services (DRS).

Sessions run through May 13 and cover a wide range of topics including:

  • The transition to adulthood process
  • Navigating adult services
  • Advocating for teens with autism

Each session features an expert-led presentation and time for discussion and questions.

Register for the IDHS-DRS program overview online. Individuals can register for any sessions they want to attend.
