Overnight camp opportunities for children and young adults with intellectual disabilities ages 8-23
Special Camps is an overnight, all-volunteer-run camp for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
While families and caregivers get a week-long respite, trained staff and 24-hour nursing provide a safe place for campers to explore new opportunities encouraging independence, self-esteem and friendships.
Special Camps 2024 overnight session for children and young adults will be held on June 9 – 14. This session is for campers ages 8 to 22. Youth will be divided into groups for ages 8 – 13 and ages 14 – 23.
This year’s Special Camps will be held at Camp Red Leaf in Ingleside where campers will enjoy activities, including:
- Swimming in a heated pool
- A rope course,climbing wall and zipline
- Archery and outdoor sports
- Canoeing and fishing
- Arts and crafts
- Hayrides, campfire songs and s’mores
The cost is $450 per session. Partial scholarships may be available.
