iCan Bike Camp 2025 in East Peoria
Children with disabilities can gain confidence and independence by learning to ride a bike in just one week!
Easterseals Central Illinois will host iCan Bike Day Camp from July 21 through 25. Riders will attend one 75-minute session each day.
Using adapted bicycles, spotters and an encouraging environment, this program turns “I can’t” into “I can!”
For five consecutive days, children and youth ages 8 to 18 with disabilities will learn to ride a two-wheel bicycle. Camp staff will adjust the bikes during the week to help riders learn to balance, gain important skills and discover the joy of riding.
Rider benefits include:
- Increased self-esteem and confidence
- Improved physical fitness, mental health and overall quality of life
- Independent transportation and inclusion opportunities
Campers must have a disability and be between the ages of 8 to 18 to participate. Other requirements include:
- Attending all five days of camp
- Having a minimum inseam of 20 inches
- Weighing less than 220 pounds
- Walking without assistive devices and being able to side-step to both sides
- Willing to wear a properly fitted helmet
