Heroes Unite Autism Acceptance and Child Abuse Prevention Celebration in Elgin
A free community event for people of all ages and abilities to raise awareness and provide information about Autism Acceptance Month and Child Abuse Prevention Month
The Elgin Police Department and the Autism Hero Project will host the annual “Heroes Unite Autism Acceptance and Child Abuse Prevention Celebration” on April 26 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Activities will be both inside and outside of the City of Elgin Police Department.
Visitors can:
- Spend time exploring activities
- Have fun together
- Raise awareness for people living with autism
- Learn how everyone can help prevent child abuse
Participants can sign up for Family Finder, Premise Alert and Simulated Traffic Stops. Other activities will include:
- Sensory areas
- Family resources
- Games, magic shows and bubbles galore
- Face painting and bounce house (weather permitting)
- Music and entertainment
- Raffles and giveaways
Division of Specialized Care for Children (DSCC) team members from our Lombard Regional Office will be there to explain how we help children and youth with special healthcare needs and their families. Please stop by our table!
