Annual “Backpack Attack” Event and Resource Fair in Decatur
The annual “Backpack Attack” event for families in need is returning with new resources and three school supply pick-up sites
Join the Decatur Family YMCA, Macon County Health Department and John’s Hill Magnet School for the annual “Backpack Attack” on Aug. 2.
The Backpack Attack is a community outreach event giving school-aged children free backpacks and school supplies.
School supplies will be available at three locations:
- From 9 to 11 a.m. at the Decatur Family YMCA, 220 West McKinley
- From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Macon County Health Department, 1221 E. Condit St.

- John’s Hill Magnet School drive-up site at 1025 E. Johns Avenue
Activities will also include:
- A resource fair at the YMCA with information and essential support for low-income families
- Vaccinations, physical examinations, dental screenings, a resource fair and other family-friendly activities at the Macon County Health Department
