Webinar – “Parenting as a Person with a Disability”
A free webinar providing insights and resources to help parents and parental figures with disabilities, as well as their children, thrive
The University of Illinois Chicago’s Institute on Disability and Human Development, the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (IL LEND) and The Autism Program of Illinois (TAP) will host “Parenting as a Person with a Disability” on Zoom on Sept. 23 from 12 to 1 p.m.
Researcher-advocate and parental figure Timotheus “T.J.” Gordon, Jr. will share insights and resources to help parents and parental figures with disabilities, as well as their children, thrive.
He will cover topics, including:
- Organizations and support groups for parents with disabilities
- Legal resources
- Inclusive parenting classes
- Insights on what it is like to be a godparent and parent with an intellectual/developmental disability
Timotheus is a Research Associate II at the Institute on Disability and Human Development and a co-founder of the Chicagoland Disabled People of Color Coalition (Chicagoland DPOCC).
