Webinar Series – “Demystifying Behavior Interventions: A Step-by-Step Series for Parents”
Learn how to advocate for your child with disabilities to receive the right behavior interventions in this free step-by-step webinar series for parents and caregivers
Family Matters Parent Training and Information Center and Illinois STAR NET Region V (Chicago) will host “Demystifying Behavior Interventions: A Step-by-Step Series for Parents” on Zoom. The webinars are on Tuesdays, Sept. 8 -29, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Advocating for your child to receive the right behavior interventions can feel completely overwhelming. Between the complex acronyms and strict timelines, it is easy to feel lost.
Join Dr. Antoinette Taylor and Tareema Jean-Baptiste for this series providing an in-depth, step-by-step approach to behavior interventions.
Antoinette and Tareema will walk participants through exactly what Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) are and how they work. They will also cover topics including:
- How to decode behavior to understand which strategies to try, and then explore how to communicate what this looks like in an early childhood classroom
- Vital laws that protect students with disabilities, ensuring they receive the support they need to remain in the least restrictive environment (LRE)
- How to make sure timely, accurate assessments are completed to provide a truly effective plan that helps your child thrive
Parents and caregivers will leave this series with the confidence and skills needed to express concerns and advocate effectively to help their children thrive.
