The Arc of Illinois‘ Family-to-Family Health Information Center and Illinois Life Span Program (ILS) will host session one of this two-part series, “Planning for a Loved One with Disabilities: Secure Their Future. Empower Their Life,” on June 9 from 12 to 1:30 p.m.
Join Michele Westmaas, Financial Advisor with Thrivent, for these practical educational sessions to help families thoughtfully plan for the care, financial stability and quality of life of loved ones with disabilities.
In session one, Michele will cover:
- Financial stability and quality of life of loved ones with disabilities
- How to protect eligibility for government benefits
- Legal considerations for guardianship, powers of attorney and advance directives
- Strategies for transition planning
The webinar is free. Parents, guardians, siblings and caregivers of individuals with disabilities are welcome to attend.
The series will wrap up with session two on July 14 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. The second session will cover tools for financial planning, including special needs trusts, ABLE accounts and life insurance.
