The Perkins School for the Blind will host “Putting the Good in Goodbye: Acknowledging, Managing and Celebrating the Shift to Adult Care” on April 29 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Each session will feature expert presenters, several of whom are parents with real-world insights into the unique challenges faced by individuals with complex disabilities.
Families and their loved ones often face emotional and relational challenges as they transition from pediatric to adult healthcare.
Susan Shanske, MSW, LICSW, and Lisa Volpigno, MSW, social workers with the BRIDGES Adult Transition Program at Boston Children’s Hospital, will help families make the most of this transition. They will share:
- How their program supports patients, families, and providers in navigating changing relationships and balancing new responsibilities
- Practical strategies and insights for making the most of this transition
- Tips for helping young adults move into adult care with confidence and support
