Webinar Series on Transitioning From Pediatric to Adult Health Care: “Pap Camp: Your Health, Your Access, Your Power”

The Perkins School for the Blind will host “Pap Camp: Your Health, Your Access, Your Power” on April 8 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Webinars will continue on Wednesdays through April 29.
Each session will feature expert presenters, several of whom are parents with real-world insights into the unique challenges faced by individuals with complex disabilities.
Pap Camp is a supportive session for parents and caregivers who want to help young women with disabilities feel more comfortable and prepared for reproductive health visits.
Rowan Medicine Medical Director Dr. Jennifer M. LeComte and Co-Director Dr. Wendy F. Aita, PhD, will cover why respectful, accessible reproductive health care matters and how it can support:
- Self-advocacy
- Early awareness of health concerns
- Informed choices that reflect personal values and goals
The doctors will also walk participants through:
- What typically happens at an appointment
- Who may be involved
- How to plan your visit to honor comfort, privacy and individual needs
Participants will have a deeper understanding of how to promote continuity of care, independence and quality of life for young adults with complex medical and developmental needs.
The webinar is free. Parents, caregivers, educators, healthcare professionals and advocates are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions.
