Webinar – “Introduction to Specific Learning Disabilities: A Guide for Parents”
A free event to equip parents and caregivers with an understanding of specific learning disabilities (SLD) and strategies for supporting students with learning differences
The Illinois SLD Support Project will host an “Introduction to Specific Learning Disabilities: A Guide for Parents” on Nov. 18 from 6 to 7 p.m.
Parents and caregivers will gain an understanding of SLD, its characteristics and effective ways to support learning for individuals with learning differences.
Region 5 Specialist Josh Quick’s presentation will include:
- Defining specific learning disabilities
- Exploring the characteristics of learning disabilities and how SLD can look in different individuals
- Learning about five highly effective, high-leverage instructional practices (HLPs) and specific strategies for supporting students with SLD
By the end of this session, participants will leave with a toolkit of practical strategies and a deeper understanding of SLD.
