Webinar – “Supporting LGBQT+ Youth: The Why and How”
Free introductory workshop for anyone who wants to gain an understanding of needs, barriers and strategies for supporting LGBTQ+ young people
Prevent Child Abuse Illinois (PCA) will host “Supporting LGBQT+ Youth: The Why and How” on June 17 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
This introductory workshop is for anyone and everyone who wants to learn how to support LGBTQ+ young people.
Presenter Julio Flores is a seasoned leader, strategist and program director for the Illinois Safe Schools Alliance. He spearheads initiatives supporting LGBTQ+ youth by blending policy advocacy, education and youth organizing to foster safety and development in Illinois.
This workshop will focus on the experiences and needs of LGBTQ+ young people and includes opportunities for:
- Reflection, dialogue and skill-building
- Identifying strategies for creating more affirming environments
- Gaining familiarity with the language and terminology that LGBTQ+ youth use
- Building an understanding of common needs, barriers and protective factors for this demographic
