Free webinar for caregivers and their loved ones with disabilities covering the role of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and federal laws protecting workers and caregivers under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Join The Arc of Illinois’ Illinois Life Span and Family to Family Health Information Center webinar series for “The ADA and Caregivers” on June 11 from 12 to 1 p.m.
Participants will learn about the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s role, authority and federal laws prohibiting employment and caregiver discrimination.
Presenters with the EEOC-Chicago District will answer questions and give participants a better understanding of:
- The EEOC’s role and authority
- Illegal employment discrimination under federal equal employment opportunity (EEO) laws
- The ADA and individuals protected under the act
- Employer duty to provide reasonable accommodation in the workplace for individuals with a disability
- Limitations on disability-related questions, medical exams and confidentiality
- Prohibited discrimination against workers with caregiving responsibilities
- EEOC free resources
The presentation will also go over filing a charge of employment discrimination with the EEOC.
