Free parent workshop on IEPs, IEP meetings and how to advocate for your child.

“Being Your Child’s Own Advocate” is scheduled for 6 p.m. Oct. 29 at Rolling Green School in Rockford.

Dr. Michael Houselog will lead this parent workshop. Dr. Houselog is a professor at Rockford University, primarily teaching classes in special education. He has been a professional educator for 45 years, working as a special education teacher, a director of special education, an elementary principal and school district superintendent. Over the past 35 years, Dr. Houselog has presented on topics in special education at the state and national levels, published in professional journals and has led building and district initiatives on integration and inclusion of students with special needs in preschool to 12th grade.
