Webinar – “The Importance of Visual Supports and Strategies” for Children With Disabilities
A free family-focused webinar providing practical strategies for using visual support to promote learning for children ages 3 to 5 with disabilities
STAR NET Region IV will host “The Importance of Visual Supports and Strategies” on Nov. 5 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Check-in will begin at 3:25 p.m.
Children’s brains are more visual than those of previous generations. Parents and caregivers of children of all abilities can use visual strategies to support learning and prevent behavioral challenges.
Focusing on the needs of families, presenter Kathy Morris’s presentation will include:
- Tips for using keychain rules, power cards and social stories
- Practical strategies for supporting cognitive development and preventing behavioral challenges
- Videos and visual examples
Morris has been an educator for 46 years and presents internationally. Morris and her husband, Guy, “walked the walk and talked the talk” after the premature birth of their twin sons, Kirk and Drew. They are recipients of The ARC Lifetime Achievement Award for their lifelong professional and personal work with people with disabilities.
This presentation is for families and professionals who work with children ages 3 to 5 with disabilities.
