An opportunity to explore advanced technical careers for high school students who are deaf or hard of hearing and entering grades 10, 11 or 12

Join the Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) to explore “Advanced Tech Careers” from July 13 to 18. The program will start on Saturday afternoon and will end on Thursday morning.

Advanced Tech Careers is a fun and educational summer program for students who are deaf and hard of hearing to learn more about technology and the different careers they can pursue in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

Students will engage in activities designed to challenge their minds and spark creativity.

Activities will include working with other students and instructors in a group of 25 to 30 people to:

  • Code your own programs and games
  • Design and build a high-tech gadget
  • Experiment with different technologies in a modern lab
  • Find out what kind of tech careers suit your interests and skills

Students will also have opportunities to have fun and socialize with other students. Students will stay in a dorm room on campus with a roommate and enjoy group activities in the afternoon and evening.

The program is open to students who are deaf or hard of hearing and entering grades 10, 11 or 12 in fall 2024. Students who have attended other programs at RIT/NTID and enjoy technology are welcome to apply again.

The cost is $700 and covers room, board and all activities. Partial scholarships are available based on financial need. If you need financial assistance, please fill out the Financial Assistance Form or contact ntidoutreach@rit.edu.
