Event Type

A free family-focused webinar providing practical strategies for using visual support to promote learning for children ages 3 to 5 with disabilities

STAR NET Region IV is hosting “Visual Support Strategies” on Feb. 22 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Check-in begins at 6:55 p.m.

This presentation is for families and professionals who work with children ages 3 to 5 with disabilities.

Our children’s brains are more visual than previous generations. Meeting those needs for learning language and supporting behavioral challenges means more intense work using strategies to help support their cognitive levels.

Focusing on the needs of families, presenter Kathy Morris’s presentation will include:

  • Tips for using keychain rules, power cards and social stories
  • Practical strategies for supporting cognitive development and preventing behavioral challenges
  • Videos and visual examples

Morris has been an educator for 46 years and presents all over the world. Morris and her husband, Guy, “walked the walk and talked the talk” after the premature birth of their twin sons, Kirk and Drew. They are recipients of The ARC Lifetime Achievement Award for their lifelong professional and personal work with people with disabilities.

See the Visual Support Strategies flyer for more details.
