A webinar for providers and families about the mental health of adolescents due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of addressing mental health in teens

Join the Illinois chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (ICAAP) for “The Mental Health of Adolescents: During COVID-19 and Beyond” on Jan. 27 from 12 – 1 p.m.

In a recent public advisory “Protecting Youth Mental Health,” U.S. Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy, MD, MBA, stated that “the challenges today’s generation of young people face are unprecedented and uniquely hard to navigate. And the effect these challenges have had on their mental health is devastating.”

According to this advisory, mental, emotional, developmental or behavioral disorders have been reported in about 20 percent of children ages 3-17 years and many are not receiving adequate treatment.

Participants in this adolescent health webinar will examine the many factors impacting the mental health of adolescents due to the COVID-19 pandemic and learn more about:

  • The importance of mental health and overall well-being
  • Current mental health research related to adolescents
  • Identifying trends in adolescent mental health during COVID-19

Useful tools and resources for both providers and families will also be shared.

Register online for this ICAAP webinar.
