A free, virtual transition to adulthood training series for Illinois parents/caregivers of youth with autism ages 14 to 21

Would you like to learn more about the transition to adulthood and advocating for your teen with autism?

Join The Autism Program of Illinois (TAP) for the next Advocating for Supports to Improve Service Transitions (ASSIST) virtual training program “Surrogate Decision-Making” on Sept. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m.

ASSIST training will be via Zoom and run through May 13, 2024.

Sessions will:

  • Feature an expert-led presentation related to transitioning to adulthood
  • Meet on Mondays at 6 p.m.
  • Occur one or more times per month

Topics will include:

  • Guardianship and alternatives to guardianship
  • Medicaid waiver services
  • Social Security benefits
  • Special needs trusts

Each session will provide time for discussion and questions.

All sessions are virtual and will begin at 6 p.m. The training is free for Illinois parents and caregivers of youth with autism ages 14 to 22.

Register for the surrogate decision-making webinar. Individuals can register for any sessions they want to attend.
