A free, four-part webinar series for families and educators providing practical tools and resources for strengthening transition planning for youth with disabilities in Illinois

Join Family Matters Parent Training and Information Center and The Arc of Illinois’ Family Advocate Program for the virtual lunch and learn series, “A Taste of What’s Ahead for Families and Educators.” The series kicks off with “Key Questions Families Should Ask in Secondary Transition Planning” on Jan. 30 from 12 to 1 p.m.

This practical, family-centered webinar aims to help parents, caregivers, educators and professionals understand how to effectively prepare students with disabilities for life after high school.

Participants will learn about:

  • Illinois-specific transition requirements, including the requirement to begin transition planning no later than age 14.5
  • The legal framework under the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
  • Required Individual Education Program (IEP) components
  • Best practices for meaningful, student-centered transition planning

The webinar is free, but you must register to attend.
