A free webinar series that features an open discussion with disability advocates on a wide range of topics related to the transition to adulthood

The webinar series “Our Disability Roadmap” continues with guest Bob Williams on March 29 from 1 to 2 p.m.

Samuel Habib, 23, is an aspiring filmmaker and community college student. He is pursuing a career as a filmmaker and presenter. Samual is co-director of the New York Times Op-Doc “My Disability Roadmap” with his father, Dan Habib, who also moderates this webinar series.

Bob Williams is a nationally recognized leader on policy issues relating to supporting people with the most significant disabilities to live, work and thrive in their own homes and communities. Bob helped co-found CommunicationFIRST after retiring from a distinguished four-decade career where he most recently served as Director of the U.S. Independent Living Administration at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Discussion topics will include Bob’s experiences as:

  • A principal advisor on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Co-leading the task force that developed the U.S. government’s successful arguments in the Olmstead v. LC case before the U.S. Supreme Court
  • A teenager leading a successful strike of students in his segregated special education class to fight for equal educational opportunities and inclusion in regular education classes

The discussion will also cover independent living, career pathways and other topics related to transition.
