Free webinar focusing on the role of nutrition in brain health across the life span for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
The HealthMatters Program is hosting a free webinar on nutrition and brain health for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This webinar is from 1 to 2 p.m. on June 29.
This webinar includes guidelines for reducing risks for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) in people with IDD and their caregivers.
Presenter Dawna Torres Mughal, PhD, RDN, LDN, FADA, FAND, Morosky College of Health Professions and Sciences at Gannon University, will discuss the importance of enhancing these lifestyle factors:
- Physical activity
- Sleep and relaxation
- Social interactions
The presentation will cover known risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease and share practical dietary principles that can help persons with IDD and their caregivers reach their health target in these areas:
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Diabetes
- Hyperlipidemia (high blood cholesterol)
- Obesity
This webinar will help participants better understand the importance of nutrients and how to make them part of your food choices.
