A free webinar to help parents, caregivers, professionals and people with disabilities navigate difficult conversations to reduce conflicts and misunderstanding

Join the University of Illinois Chicago’s Institute on Disability & Human Development (IDHD) and The Autism Program (TAP) webinar series for “Navigating Difficult Conversations” on Nov. 2 from 12 to 1 p.m.

Communication is key in seeking out and/or providing disability services and resources for families, providers and self-advocates.

Presenter Dr. Stephanie Weber will share resources and strategies to navigate difficult conversations to reduce the chances of misunderstanding and conflict.

Stephanie will help give participants the tools needed to move toward a resolution if and when there is conflict. Topics will include:

  • Basic conflict resolution styles
  • Defining the aspects of a crucial conversation
  • Identifying approaches to use when faced with difficult situations and conversations
  • How to create safety in conversations

Stephanie is an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati and works in the Division of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. She is the training director for the (LEND) program University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities.
